This morning I woke up excited because Santa is coming tonight. All the joy and presents would be here tomorrow morning. I woke up early so I read in bed until 7am. I went up Audrey’s ladder to see if she was awake but she was not so I continued reading in bed – then it was time to get up. I was excited because the day would go so quickly and the day really did.

We had a swim after breakfast, I found a ladybird and Audrey caught it! She named it Snowflake and then it flew away. In the pool I jumped back on the inflatable goose and then I fell in accidentally which was annoying as I was already dry. So I ran out of the pool to get my towel. We came back down to the van and got changed into our clothes and played a game of Uno. Then we went into town on our scooters with Mummy to get some more medicine for Daddy, then we had lunch at the Bakery – and the food was amazing! I would have asked for more sausage rolls but knew I shouldn’t as we were going for ice cream after lunch at the Pondering Frog. The ice cream was delicious. It was home made. After ice cream we came back to the caravan to Daddy who still wasn’t feeling well and Audrey didn’t finish her ice cream so we put it in the fridge for Daddy to eat later.

We went for another swim in the afternoon – there were lots of people in the pool as it was so hot. After our swim we had our showers and came back and I read 134 pages of my chapter book followed by a game of UNO with Audrey and Daddy and a walk on the beach to skim some rocks, and that was the end of the day.

Have a nice Christmas and enjoy the happiness, Merry Christmas to all – Love Ava

The traditional bedtime routine of the night before christmas began, with Lach preparing the tray of treats for Santa – including a generous glass of McHenrys Barrel Aged Gin, 2 Santa biscuits (courtesy of Nanna) and a carrot, the girls putting on their Christmas hats and holding up their stockings for the photo – this year they also wrote their letters to Santa. We then get into bed and read the book ‘The Night Before Christmas’ – which was given to Ava for her first christmas by Nonna and Gramps. This year the girls have decided to sleep in their hats. Our last Christmas in the caravan was 2 years ago and we were in Orleans Bay – once again on a beach just the 4 of us with perfect blue skies.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and are thinking about the families we know whose Christmas this year will be forever different.
