Why a blog…?

We have the opportunity of a lifetime to take 3 months out of our day to day lives to travel Australia before our daughters start school and pre-school in January 2017.

It will be an amazing opportunity to spend time together 24/7 and reconnect as a family. We all get bogged down in day to day lives of work and daycare and we sometimes forget to take stock of what is under our noses.  We are going to embrace this rare opportunity to stop, grow, learn and appreciate this amazing country we live in.

We are keeping this blog as a record of our experience for us and the girls – its not just a photo collection, so the posts could be lengthy 🙂 When we have finished this blog we will publish it for our girls memories into the future

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoy experiencing it and writing it….

  1. Hi Lachie and Chic
Bec and the girls are visiting for a few days in the sunny north and we learned of your blog and your adventure. We will be starting our own trip soon in our newly acquired Avan. We are hoping to visit wineries from Mermaid Beach to Melbourne and then into South Australia. No little people but we are taking our pup Angus. Don’t know which would be more challenging but I guess we’ ll find out soon. We’ ve never caravanned before and we were shocked at the cost of taking the van across the Strait. Hopefully we will learn plenty from your adventures, maybe even cross paths if you stay in dog friendly parks. please report on great spots. We have heard that Coffin Bay is one.
Tally ho …or whatever fellow caravanners say
Love to you and the girls

    • Hi Lindy…
Great to hear from you. I heard that you were going to hit the road soon too – its fantastic and you will love it. We definitely have some tips which we would love to hand over – as well as an exhaustive packing list (the must have’s!!!). We started the Nullarbor today and will be finished in a couple of days to head over to Margaret River to stock up on more wine – we are running low from our Mudgee stock up over 2 weeks ago now :(.
Xmas in Esperance and New Years in Ceduna, then heading to Barossa and McLaren Vale to meet up with Lachs parents, then Kangaroo Island and then Grampians to meet up with your lovely girls (& KJ of course!).
tally ho to you too, and send our love to Mick
