Day 5 – Stanley to Mt Field National Park (by Ava)

Following a good couple of hours of planning our next couple of days, maps, weather forecast and attractions, we decided we would not head to the west coast as originally planned due to the forecast inclement weather, and head inland instead and down through the central highlands to the south. We agreed with Ava that she could write some of the blog on one day – so today is the day – perfect for her, as the morning will be spent in the land of imagination.

After dinner, Lach and I went to see whether we could see any Penguins last night at sundown – around 945pm. Dani had been the night before and said we should take our red head torches with us as the penguins are scared away with white flashlights. It was rather chilly and so both of us had our down jackets and beanies on, and Lach stopped on the way to take another stunning photo of the sunset over Sawyer Bay.

We woke up and within an hour we were on the road to Tasmazia – a slight detour to our final destination of Mount Field National Park, where we will stay for 3 days.

Ava’s post – typed by Ava:

This morning we went to Tasmania ! sorry we are already in Tasmania. We went to Tasmazia  .there were lots of fun stuff to do .We went in the WORŁDS MOST CONFUSING MAZE .To be honest it was actually quite hard. There was a really big and hard maze Mummy walked through a lot of spider webs so she asked DANIELLE to go in front of her!! I was actually in front of them but I was to small for the spider webs. There were also some funny signs here is 1 “HAPPY WIFE HAPPY LIFE”. Mummy and Danielle had a gentle photo with the sign. I WAS going to have a photo with the sign but as soon as I felt it, it fell off. To be honest it was a very creepy maze. First spider webs!!!  Next a creepy sign!!! And now wallabies everywhere! What next? We also found some small villages, a fake Eiffel tower and the statue of liberty on top of a house. What now? I will tell you – a very long car trip – it was for 4 hours. It was not fun, finally we got out of the car, but we are not there yet. We are at a whisky bar called The Nant. Half an hour later we are at the campsite, and here I am writing this. The End.

Ava was very proud of her writing and the only thing i would add, is that the wallbies were jumping in and out of the mazes as though they were following us. Dani, Ava and i  were in hysterics. Lach and Audrey were somewhere else in the maze having the same experiences.

We arrived at the Mount Field National Park around 430pm after 7 hours of driving – was a long day but well worth it – to be set up now for 3 sleeps is fantastic. We have our spot, the xmas lights are around the awning and we are getting into the christmas spirit. Sitting having dinner we keep hearing snoring in the bush behind us – it can’t be human and so have researched the noises of the tasmanian devil – VOILA – we now think its angry  devils (according to to youtube!). Fortunately Danielle sleeps closest to the angry devils – hope she tucks in tight.
